Canadian ID Cards

Are you planning on driving to Canada any time soon? If so, what documentation might you need?

You’ll need a Canadian ID card showing proof that your USA auto policy limits meet the minimum requirements for each Canadian province & territories. It’s also known as a Non-Resident Inter Province Motor Liability Insurance Card.

Is it Required?

Yes. All US residents are required by law to carry these cards with them.

What if I don’t have a Canadian ID card?

You could run the risk of fines in the event you have an accident, or all pulled over for a motor vehicle violation. Your car could also be impounded until proof of coverage can be obtained by the Canadian Authorities.

Where Do I get a Canadian ID Card?

You’ll want to contact your local agent so they can request one from your insurance carrier.
